My team and I transformed The Clymb's content marketing channels into an integrated content system—a full-scale online publication that fueled social engagement and drove significant SEO traffic to the retail e-commerce site. We were rewarded for our quality-first editorial approach whenever our stories were shared by major brands and publications. One of the feature stories we published on the blog was even chosen for a 2013 bronze award by the North American Travel Journalists Association, which honors "the best of the best in travel writing, photography, and promotion."
Because of the new blog and associated SEO landing pages, search engine traffic volume increased 1,304%, organic keyword ranking increased 722%, and page-1 rankings on Google increased 925%. Daily pageviews to the blog jumped 741%.
The blog was a fantastic top-of-funnel customer acquisition tool. The idea was that instead of paying for ads, we'd just become media ourselves. We blurred the lines between publishing and commerce so well that tourism boards began advertising and paying us to create sponsored stories and launch social media contests through our content channels. We successfully launched an entire media arm at The Clymb that continues to drive new business to this day.
